We're Hiring! THIRD SHIFT 2026 Festival Associate
Third Space Gallery is seeking to fill the position of THIRD SHIFT Festival Associate in May 2026. The successful candidate will work closely with staff and volunteers of Third Space Gallery to present THIRD SHIFT Contemporary Arts Festival in Saint John, New Brunswick in August 2026 and will assist with Third Space programming throughout the Spring and Summer months.
Festival Associates help co-organize the 3-day festival alongside the Executive Director, assisting with the communication and coordination of artist lineups, collaboration with the City of Saint John, networking for the event, and providing a consistent liaison to the main operations of the organization. The successful candidate(s) will work with the current Executive Director at USTATION on Prince William St. in Uptown Saint John from mid-May till August 31st. This role requires individuals to be available in-person to fulfill their tasks.

Established in 2015, THIRD SHIFT aims to offer citizens a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary art and reimagine their city. THIRD SHIFT holds space for new experiences and communal exchange through the exhibition of contemporary art installations, performances, screenings and presentations in the heart of uptown Saint John. Job title: THIRD SHIFT Festival Associate
Pay & workload: $17/hour, 35hrs/week, up to 16 weeks
Location: In-person in Uptown Saint John with occasional remote work opportunities
Duration of employment: Mid-May to August 31st, 2026 (start date flexible)

Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Festival Logistics and Planning
- Liaising with Community Stakeholders and Partners
- Corresponding with Artists and Participants
- Event Promotion
- Volunteer Coordination
- Their capability as an independent worker
- Experience with event planning and promotion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the Saint John community and contemporary art an asset
- Outgoing personality
- Canadian citizens or a permanent residents, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work or school visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number
- Between 18 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment
- Enrolled in an academic accredited institution in the semesters before and/or after the work term
