We’re hiring! THIRD SHIFT Festival Associate 2025

Pay: $17/hr, Full-time (35 hours/week)

Third Space Gallery is seeking to fill the position of THIRD SHIFT Festival Associate for May 2025. The successful candidate will work closely with staff and volunteers of Third Space Gallery to present THIRD SHIFT, a contemporary Art at Night Festival in Saint John, New Brunswick in August 2025 and will assist with Third Space programming throughout the Spring and Summer months. The successful candidate will work with the current Executive Director at USTATION on Prince William St. in Uptown Saint John from May till August 31st, 2025. This role requires individuals to be available in-person to fulfill their tasks.

Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Festival Logistics and Planning: Establishing locations for art installations across Uptown Saint John in coordination with the municipality and local venues
  • Liaising with Community Stakeholders and Partners: Being in communication with funders and sponsors to accurately represent their contributions in the festival
  • Corresponding with Artists and Participants: Gathering and organizing information about each artist and art installation, assisting with check-in meetings with the selected artists
  • Event Promotion: Creating and managing social media content for the online presence of the festival, participating in interviews, press releases, and public facing images for THIRD SHIFT
  • Volunteer Coordination: Organizing individuals to provide adequate information and guidance throughout the Art at Night component of the festival

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Their capacity as an independent worker
  • Experience with event planning, coordination, and promotion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Friendly personality
  • Asset: Knowledge of the Saint John community and contemporary art
  • Asset: Bilingual, both written and spoken

In alignment with our funding, candidates must be:

  • Canadian citizens or a permanent residents, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number)
  • Between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment
  • Enrolled in an academic accredited institution in the semesters before and/or after the work term
