Live Drawing at the Library 2025

Third Space is happy to continue its partnership with the Saint John Free Public Library (Main Branch) to bring group art-making sessions into 2025! Live Drawing at the Library is an opportunity for anyone to practice their hand with a variety of subjects: still life, live models, blind contour, and much more.

This group session will take place from 1pm-3pm on every other last Sunday of the month on the main floor (blue carpet) of the Saint John Free Public Library, located inside of Market Square.

Participation is free! This program is BYOS: Bring your own supplies! Each session, there will be a new subject to draw from, whether it be an array of blankets, odd skeletons, live clothed models, flowers and props, or anything in between. We ask that the medium you work in remains relatively dry (i.e. no paints or loose inks).

Live Drawing at the Library intends to exist as an open-ended gathering of artists to create at their own pace. We will have some attendees (board members and/or staff) who have formal training in the arts to support anyone who may be stuck or need help in their creative process, but the primary goal of this group is to experience a semi-formal artistic event without the pressure of an academic system or otherwise. Participants are welcome to bring headphones and work in their own bubble, or chat quietly with others.

Mark your calendars for the following Sunday meets, you won’t want to miss it!
