As per the Third Space strategic plan presented at the 2021 AGM, Third Space is committed to:
- Annual anti-oppression training for the Third Space board and staff
- Taking place February 7, 2022 with Kate MacDonald
- Annual policy review with a QTBIPOC facilitator
- Taking place in February/March 2022 with Kate MacDonald
- Paid jury for THIRD SHIFT that represents the diversity in our community
- Inviting an Indigenous artist to be the THIRD SHIFT artist-in-residence every year
- THIRD SHIFT 2022 artist-in-residence is Jordan Hill from T’sou-ke Nation
- Donating a percentage of THIRD SHIFT merchandise sales to timely and impactful community initiatives (i.e. Indian Residential School Survivors Society in 2021)
- Offering complimentary Third Space memberships to creative community organizations serving artists and creatives from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences—let us know if there is an organization that we should connect with!
- Current community partners: Chroma, L’Arche Creative Connections
- Offering closed captioning and/or ASL interpretation for all events whenever possible
- Growing our accessibility fund for THIRD SHIFT artists from $1,000 to $2,000 in 2022
- Continuing to ensure Third Space events and THIRD SHIFT installations are as physically accessible as possible (including gender neutral washrooms, access supports for artists and attendees living with disability or experiencing other barriers)
- Ensuring there are safety-focused volunteers on-site at THIRD SHIFT events to support anyone who requires assistance or is experiencing discomfort
