Workshop Details:
Is there a difference between video art and films or movies? What exactly is video art, where did it come from, and why should we make it? In this three-hour power workshop, we’ll watch some early video art, discuss the medium (who we are in a world where almost everyone has access to a video camera?), and then get to work making videos. We’ll talk about screens and surfaces, tubes and pixels, and an artist trapped in a hole in the floor. The take-home lessons will equip participants with the tools to make their own short video art. This work will be eligible to be included in the upcoming Third Space Member’s Pop-Up Video Screening on April 29th as part of the Quality Block Party.
